Wii Airplane Controller adds yet more clutter to your living room

Nintendo may be slow to get a Wii version of Pilotwings off the ground, but those looking to get ready for that inevitability may want to pick up the latest Wiicessory from PEGO, which will turn your humble Wiimote and nunchuck into a makeshift flight stick. Of course, there aren't exactly a whole lot of games at the moment that'll let you take full advantage of the setup, but it will only set you back $13, and it would seem to offer some potential for those looking for some new uses for their Wiimote on their PC.

Wow this is one more useless piece of plastic to clutter up your gaming room. I mean how many more of these crappy clip-on things are they going to have? They don't really add anything to the gaming experience they just make you look like an idiot by swinging something around in your living room that looks like a spatula or sword.

HAHAHAHA that one's pretty funny.
The third party manufacturers keep making add-ons that don't really give input to the system. They actually restrict your gaming experience.
I have respect for the additional controllers Nintendo releases because they actually CONTROL stuff. Personally, I'd like to see more first party controllers. Finally someone understands what I want out of a system. I used to love when xbox had the choice of A and S controllers because I never consistently felt like using only one. One of the best perks of the Wii is many games give you at least two choices of gameplay.
Of course though, there's still plenty of people out there that just want their staple 8 buttons but it seems pretty obvious that this round of gaming is different strokes for different folks, but it doesn't seem to be sinking in for all of the "my way or the highway" types.

Ok, no making fun of this drawing, I literally just did it in paint but take a look at my idea of the perfect controller stand to control a flying game:

This device requires no power and the cable between the nunchuck and wiimote hides underneath. The nunchuck goes back and forth and sits in the stand, this is the throttle. The wiimote can move in all directions and sits in the stand as well with complete mobility as the steering. It perfectly replicates an airplane, I don't know why they haven't done this with a flight simulator.

Actually, I like that one, except you really should turn the Nunchuck to face the other direction, and instead of having it plug through the bottom, just have a round edge that the cord wraps around before running up the handle of the throttle.

Grey, thanks for the feedback. You are right, turn the nunchuck around so your left thumb can access the C and Z buttons. I really wish people would see my idea because I think the Wii allows for endless possibility and recreating an airplane would me amazing becuse the built in motion sensors of the Wiimote and nunchuck would allow us to buy a $15 piece of non-powered plastic instead of a $100 flight stick.

I like that concept, that really would work well for flight sims. And if you have to have a big chunky plastic thing for flight games, then I'd rather have your idea than the item in this story, to be honest.

There must be more of these junky add-ons for the Wii than there are actual games.

Other than crappy games licensed from summer blockbusters (HP, SM3, Shrek 3, POTC, Transformers, Ratatouille, FF2), and a ports from PS2 (RE4, Scarface) - does Nintendo actually have games coming out on this system?

I do agree that the Wii definitely has not had any real games out yet. My Wii has been used only for the occasional match of Smash Bros, and a very rare bout in Pokemon. HOWEVER, a rather long list of hopefuly great games area coming out in the next 2 quarters: Mario Strikers, Metroid (something), Smash Bros Brawl, and that Mario and Sonic Olympics game to name a few. Nintendo's new marketing strategy isn't working as well as I think theyd hoped. They chose to not release all of their inevitably best selling first party games in order to give the second and third parties a chance. I mean let's face it-Nintendo has ALWAYS overshadowed third party companies by blowing their games of the water with their own creations. It really put off everyone else, and now they're trying to be more hospitable to them, but it seems like this year has a massive outbreak of Nintendo's own characters.

But that's all just my view on the situation
