The Pac-Man rug
Could someone explain to us why it took over twenty years for someone to get around to weaving a Pac-Man floor rug?
P.S. - Thanks to Wille for the better pic.

Ok, here's my trainspotting bit: judging from the colors, I'd say that the carpet depicts a Mrs. Pacman game (which had the maze colored in pink). Anyway. :-)

So... Is thing big enough to play some sort of bizarre version of Twister?
It's one of those days...

I had a pac-man floor rug when I was a kid. I think it came with a sponge pac man and was part of dice based pac man game. I never played the game, but I used the Pac man floor mat in my bathroom in college. I don't remember what became of it...

I highly, highly doubt this is the first pac-man carpet/rug that's been created. I think it took twenty years for someone like yourself to see a pac-man carpet created and photographed an put on the world wide web, but we're otherwise lousy with pac-man kitch. The world has been making worthless crap based on pop culture for some time now.

It's been a while but isn't that a Ms. Pac-Man rug? I checked google and it looks like a hybrid map from Ms. Pac-Man. Not Pac-Man.

Why is it on the wall? It's not supposed to be ART is it?
Andrew @ Dec 19th 2005 12:04AM
I just so happen to be in the rug business and the reason you do not see mass production is license issues. Pac Man is trademarked. If you want to make a reproduction you have to have permission from the owner of the original. I doubt this designer has permission, but I am sure a one off would not be a big deal.

Man, it just don't look right. From the Pac Man or Ms. Pac Man to the ghosts, to the board, to the font of the scoring. Ya think if they'd spend so much time they'd do it perfect!

It would probably look a little better if it was portrait instead of landscape, like the video game.

This looks like the version of Ms. Pac-Man that was produced for the Atari 2600. If it were the REAL Ms. Pac, the rug would be in portrait arangement instead of landscape. :)

When I was a kid in playgroup, I remember us kiddies gathering with our moms and dads for songs and games around a Pac-Man rug. I was more interested in the rug than in the songs. Since then -- about the age of 2 or 3, I'd say -- I have been searching for that rug. Never have I found another.
