So, I think this would be great to have, but it seems it would be useless after Feb of next year when all of our broadcasts are in HD. Or is this HD anyways?

Broadcasts aren't all going to HD, they will just all be digital.

And this is a japanese peripheral receiving 1seg digital broadcasts, in japan...

This is already digital. But, it's Japan-only digital. We really need one for America.

It would be a pain to hull around a signal converter if it doesn't recognize digital broadcasts.
