Modders create inexplicable, gigantic Nintendo DS

Sure, you love your Nintendo DS. It's light, it fits in your pocket, and you can play it wherever you go, whenever you want... right? Well, wouldn't it be a little cooler if it were super-huge and you had to push two full-size kitchen tables together just to put it down somewhere? Okay, maybe we're exaggerating a little bit, but still, this mod from some DS enthusiasts is a huge -- literally and figuratively. Using two tablet PCs and some type of interface which allows the game system to be controlled by / displayed on the larger screens, these DS fans have created the ultimate antithesis to the original system -- for no apparent reason other than the fact that they could. It could be useful for demos, especially if the tablet PCs have VGA output, so you can show your screen on a projector.

some people spend money on cars or a dvd collection, some of us buy and hack gadgets endlessly. I don't personally have 2 touchscreens, but if you saw the parts bin, and other bin, and computer closet, and circuit shelving, and etching tank ... you get the point.

@dj-kenp0 - and some people don't have disposable income, which I think was more what the OP was wondering about (where do you get the disposable income to collect cars, or collect DVDs, or hack tablets?)

To the OP, the answer is probably to have a reasonably high-paying job with a goodly amount of free time.

I'm not a specialist, and I don't mean to bash the possibility of this. But are we sure this is real? The only part of the video that displays both the DS and the dual screens at once has no live gameplay. Haven't emulators been made for the DS? I'm not seeing concrete evidence of this being any kind of hack. Though the dual screen/touchscreen setup looks very nice.

Because the first screen shown is the the MKDS random race screen and syncing those up on a whim would be all but impossible. Maybe even impossible.

Wouldn't it only require one tablet PC and an external LCD display? Why would it require two tablets?
