Asus' A8Sr laptop packs ATI's Mobility Radeon HD2400
Those scouting a fresh laptop to get their game on with now have yet another option to consider, as Asus has just announced the A8Sr, which packs ATI's Mobility Radeon HD2400 among other niceties. Also inside will be an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 / T7300 / T7100 processor, 14.1-inch widescreen panel, 802.11a/g/n support, optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a total of five USB 2.0 ports, FireWire, VGA / DVI / S-Video out, a 56k modem, Ethernet, and a six-cell battery to boot. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any definitive pricing details to go along with Asus' latest DirectX 10-capable machine, but those lusting after the almighty frame-per-second aren't likely to mind anyway.[Via FarEastGizmos]

Why do laptop manufactures insist on wasting port space by including 56K modem ports...

Because, believe or not, some people still use dial-up. Thank god I don't, but my backup dial-up connection saved my life (or at least my grade :P) once when my router burned.

Unfortunatly for everyone not all the countries in the world have broadband connections so users still use the Plain Old Telephone Network

With that GPU and a T7xxx series proc, I fear the battery life numbers for this guy... maybe there will be a 9 cell option? Otherwise I'm impressed at how much power they have managed to cram in a relatively small (14") enclosure.

ASUS laptops are great in almost every department, LCD quality, raw power, build quality... but they've always fallen short on battery life and even weight to some extent.

Actually, asus laptops used to have amazing battery life. I have a z70va with a x700 128 (yea, it's gettin kinda old) but when I first got it, I got 5+ hours out of it, and after over a year and a half I'm still getting about 4+. And mine was only about 5.5lbs. But yes, the last year and a half of asus laptops fit your description, but maybe that will change? :D
