I haven't purchased a SONY UMD game for PSP in a very long time.I've got a bunch of classic NES games, Super NES, Turbographyx 16 and Sega Genesis games on a Memory Stick and they work so great on PSP. My fav's are Shinobi, Contra 3, Soldier Blade and Chessmaster. There is a shop in Chinatown that sells preloaded Memory Sticks.
