This happened to me a while ago. I just shut down my Xbox and moved it away from my tv, when i started it back up it worked fine... seemed to be an electrical noise problem.

This just happened to me today when i was playing guitar hero 2. i get little red and black checker boxes that cover my screen about a minute into any song.
