If you don't want to upset the "Quadfather" then listen up,
Vigor Gaming just unveiled their newest rigs based on AMD / ATI's
R600 architecture. Right, as in the
Radeon HD 2900 XT which, competes fiercely with (but doesn't quite take out) NVIDIA's 640MB GeForce 8800 GTS and
GeForce 8800 GTX in head to head frag matches. Still, the top-o-the-line Force Recon QX4 starts at
just $3,189, but increases quickly when bumping up to an 3.0GHz Athlon 64 X2 FX-74 dual processor option and that limited edition "Quadfather" paint (not to mention disk, memory, and fancy pants cooling options). Well, at least the guests to your next LAN party will be honored and grateful for the invitation.

Does anyone know what case that is? Is it the thermaltake armor? And why are custom paint jobs so expensive? Aren't they just stencils?
Sorry for the bombardment of questions..but a man just has to know
marklar @ May 23rd 2007 10:54AM
thats got to be one of the most awful, most corny cases of a pc that has ever gone into production....urggh. who let this onto the market
John B @ May 23rd 2007 11:04AM
@marklar:
The same people who are marketing to the geeks who think that quad-core desktops actually provide tangible benefits over a Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2, especially when running Windows. Never underestimate the purchasing power of those who "have to have it", regardless of its practicality.

Ummm....the AMD HD 2900 XT def doesn't "smoke" the 8800 GTS 640MB....

I think they could have done something better on the side in stead of that green Quadfather.. Maybe a cool website Picture... www.PS3Nut.com or www.Digg.com in cartoon character form.
Arcygenical @ May 23rd 2007 9:37PM
The HD2900XT smokes the GTS routinely huh? Engadget, what are you smoking?

The case is the "Antec 900 Nine Hundred". www.antec.com
I actually plan to purchase that case however the ANTEC P190 is looking hella sexy... Tough choice.

What's that floppy drive for?
hungryduck @ May 23rd 2007 12:47PM
get your facts right:
to quote hardocp's extensive benchmarking process:
"In every game it slides in underperforming compared to the GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB, and it does it while drawing a lot more power, as much power or more as an 8800 GTX. Not only that, but a GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB based video card can now be had for up to $70 cheaper than the Radeon HD 2900 XT. I don’t know about you, but a video card that is cheaper, runs a lot faster and draws less energy just seems like the better value to me."

Zeus the God @ May 24th 2007 1:03AM
Alvin Vicencio:
That is NOT an Antec Nine Hundred case.
Does that look even remotely like this?
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15900
It is, however, a ThermalTake Armor case.

Also, the HD 2900XT doesn't smoke shit.

I have the quadfather that I won at the Nvidia Geforce 3 Lan Party. Unfortunately the drivers for the mobo suck! everything else is definitly well worth getting it for free. Runs warm but hey I love it for what it can do and will hold me well into the future.
Specs: EVGA 8800GTX (x2) 4gigs DDR2 800 Limited edition Coolermaster Nvidia case 74 gig Raptor 150 Raptors(x2) a PCP&C PSU FX-74 (x2) and the ASUS L1N64-SLI WS
cheers

I hope they got the rights to use the image of Al Pacino. Otherwise, hello lawsuit.
ck @ May 25th 2007 5:24AM
Awww... cr@p!
Just give me Phenom FX 2.8 GHz and a new motherboard (not the cr@ppy ASUS L1N64-SLI WS), 2 pairs of DDR2-1066 4 GB Kit and 2/4 GeForce 8800 Ultra. All I want is that...
But the truth is, when will this rig be available... *laughs* (Not to mention the wattage of the PSU to be used... *more laughs*)
