The 2006 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Game Console of the Year

It's time for the 2006 Engadget Awards, and we're asking for your nominations for the Game Console of the Year.

Nominating is easy, here's how you do it:

• Leave a comment as you normally would with what you're nominating for this category (remember, comments must be validated!).
• Don't include your reasons for nominating it or any of that stuff, just leaving the name is fine.
• Limit your nominations only to devices that were introduced and sold for the first time in 2006 (which means no concept devices or prototypes, although we will allow updated versions of previous products).
• Also, products only need to be nominated once to be in the running, so make a quick scan to see if someone's already beat you to your suggestion (i.e., don't nominate anything more than once!).

Everyone - this is for nominations. You do not need to nominate the Wii or PS3 multiple times. Also, the Xbox 360 did not come out in 2006 and thus should not be in this competition.

actually... the xbox 360 can be allowed as a nomination, because the rules said they will allow updated versions of the console, and the 360 has been updated, so it can be nominated, so i say.... xbox 360

How about the Wii virtual console?
I mean, technically, it is another system unto itself. Actually, quite a few systems since it plays N64, SNES, etc. I think it should be included.

I think it's silly to exclude Xbox 360, when 1) it really took off this year as opposed to last and 2) the current console war is very much PS3 vs Wii vs 360.

I'm not even sure of what came out this year other than the Wii, PS3, and DS Lite. The only other things I know of are the Xbox 360, GP2X, PSP, Gameboy Micro, Gizmondo and N-Gage QD Silver Edition but all of those came out last year.
