Would you trade your PS3 for a lifetime of Tacos?
We know we would. Sure, the PS3 might be worth 10-20 grand on eBay right now, but $12,500 of Taco Bell money is like four million billion in real cash, especially with that Big Bell Value Menu of theirs -- how can you go wrong? The reason we ask is that Taco Bell is asking its patrons just that: trade in your PS3 for $12,500 in Taco Bell Bucks, roughly a lifetime of tacos. This deal is only good for the first taker, since the plan is to give the PS3 to the Boys & Girls club in Stanton, California, "a gift that will keep them in the game." The offer expires December 1st. Anyone wanna "loan" us a PS3 real quick?

hahaha thats hilarious, i would probably do that if i had a ps3, but damn that 20gb ps3 looks ugly
KTL @ Nov 20th 2006 9:20PM
Total crap. Why doesn't taco bell just donate $12,500 to the B&G club and they can get an XBox 360 now. This is freaking ridiculous.
netdroid9 @ Nov 20th 2006 10:19PM
They get a lot more coverage with this than they'd get by just *donating* the money.
David @ Nov 20th 2006 11:27PM
I'll tell you why. Because 12,500 bell bucks to us is $12,500. To them, it's more like giving away $2,000 if I had to guess.
Eric @ Nov 20th 2006 9:20PM
I love the idea. If I had a PS3, I'd run to Taco Bell and do it. Tacos are forever, PS3 will eventually be toast. ;)
Garrett @ Nov 20th 2006 9:26PM
Well, if the PS3 will be toast, sign me up. I love me some toast in the morning. Especially with jam!
rob @ Nov 20th 2006 9:28PM
you can get 20 gig ps3's for like $900 on ebay.......hmmmmmm. I bet someone has already done it but that is really tempting
diulei @ Nov 20th 2006 9:29PM
Maybe for some In-n-out, but no way in hell for the McDonald's of Mexican food. Blech!
James @ Nov 20th 2006 9:30PM
Best idea ever. You can get a lifetime of tacos. 20 years down the road sell it off. People would pay a killing for a lifetime worth of tacos - 20 yrs. How can you lose. The answer is you can't.
LukeA @ Nov 20th 2006 9:31PM
How many Taco Bell Bucks are my playstations, 3 of them, worth?
adrian @ Nov 20th 2006 9:37PM
Maybe if it was McDs (choose any meal for a lifetime) then I'll sacrifice my life for a PS3.
Ron @ Nov 21st 2006 8:32PM
The Irony of this is, You're in essence killing yourself when you go get yourself a lifetime's worth of grease..at least you don't die when you're playing (too much) on the PS3 ;)
imageburn13 @ Nov 20th 2006 9:45PM
Swoop down on that one. Cuz you'll STILL be munchin down tasty tacos when the ps4, ps5, and and eh, what the heck, ps6 have come and gone.
patrick @ Nov 20th 2006 9:58PM
Hum I think I would just rather sell my PS3 on e-bay. I don't really eat fast food too much so I would not get enough use out of this. I can't remember the last time I went to Taco Bell. I do find it interesting that Taco Bell has to go through this whole scheme when they could just donate 12,500 to the Boys & Girls club. I mean really what good is one PS3 going to do a club that has maybe a couple hundred kids. The money would go a lot farther than one PS3, although just donating the money wouldn't have got them as much media exposure as this does.
Mark @ Nov 20th 2006 10:00PM
Possible fake/hoax? Check Taco Bell's website. You'd think this would be on the front page or in the Press Release section but to no avail. I totally agree with KTC about just giving money to the Boys & Girls club. ....from a simple google search..."...Taco Bell is donating $300 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver for every field goal scored during the Denver Broncos regular season...." Seems like they give money....not a single PS3. A game console doesn't "help" children.
chenry @ Nov 20th 2006 10:08PM
Bleh. A life time of the squits and lousy food.
_man1c_ @ Nov 20th 2006 10:11PM
hell yes. if i had $600 to spare id do it just for the tacos...
David @ Nov 20th 2006 10:12PM
I don't think we're looking at that big picture.
1. Your friends will love you for life for all the free food you give them.
2. No matter how down on your luck you are, you will never go hungry.
3. I know I'm being silly here, and I'm sure taco bell has some restrictions (I would assume) but you could stand around at a taco bell having people pay you and then translate that into free food and buy another ps3 when they're not in such short supply.
EatingPie @ Nov 20th 2006 10:25PM
Ooooh, a lifetime of the WORSE Mexican food on Earth!
Sell that PS3, come to Southern California (no further north than San Diego), and try some really good Mexican Food.
Roberto's
Alberto's
Filiberto's (yeah, I'm serious)
Fidel's (Solana Beach)
Crap even chains like...
El Torito
Tio Leo's
Heck, just bring your PS3 with you, I'll buy it AND drive you to all the best Mexican eateries in town!
-Pie
ChrisWray @ Nov 21st 2006 2:15AM
Psh, San Diego's cool n' all, but the Central Valley, Stockton specifically, is the northern cutoff for fantastic Mexican food.
And so what, I still like Taco Bell.
-A Mexican
amber @ Nov 21st 2006 1:30PM
dude Filiberto's is so good. i moved from AZ to orangew county and i was sad to find i had to drive to san diego to get some. its the best drunk food. ever.

"Total crap. Why doesn't taco bell just donate $12,500 to the B&G club and they can get an XBox 360 now. "
Here's a hint dude, and be sure you don't give away the big secret of the fast food business:
it doesn't actually cost them $12,500 to make $12,500 worth of tacos.
It probably costs them about fifty bucks in cheap crap ingredients. At most, it costs them approximately the same amount as a PS3. And that's spread out over a *lifetime*, so basically from their perspective you're giving them a PS3 for about a buck a year.
And hey, ever consider that maybe the B&G club actually *wants* a PS3? The Xbox 360 has been out for a year - you don't think *somebody* hasn't donated one by now? No, these kids know the PS3 is the hot new thing, and they're gonna ask for it. You can't sub out gifts; if your kid asks you for a PS3 for Christmas, you don't give him an Xbox 360 instead. You either give him what he wants so he doesn't think you don't give a rat's ass, or you get him something else entirely and teach him the value of delayed gratification. You don't buy substitutes.
Eric @ Nov 20th 2006 10:31PM
tacos give me gas...sure?
GigermUnit @ Nov 20th 2006 10:46PM
Id do it nothing can get me from free tacos except sex...
ja$on @ Nov 20th 2006 10:50PM
I am prepared to make a similar, but slightly better offer. I will offer anyone with a new 20 or 60 gb ps3 or playstations, 3 of them- a lifetime supply of free diarrhea as well as $20 cash money. This deal is exactly $20 better then the Taco Bell offer.
If you are interested, hit me up at freediarrhea@mudbutt.com

Who wants to eat tacos everyday for life? crazy people, I saw this today "Taco Bell Offers to Trade Your PlayStation 3 for Lifetime Taco Supply" at http://blog.americasnewstoday.com/2006/11/20/taco-bell-offers-to-trade-your-playstation-3-for-lifetime-taco-supply.aspx
""The tacos will be awarded in the form of $12,500 in TACO BELL Bucks ($12,500 will get you around 20,000 of Taco Bell's basic tacos, or about a taco a day for the next 55 years)""
Crazy.

""The tacos will be awarded in the form of $12,500 in TACO BELL Bucks ($12,500 will get you around 20,000 of Taco Bell's basic tacos, or about a taco a day for the next 55 years)""
since when do taco bell tacos cost .63 cents?
um...NEVER!
and one a day? sheesh, those tacos barely fill me up at all, one! SHEESH!
more like 5 a day, so 5 a day for a 1 divided by 12,500
it would last roughly 7 years, which i suppose would be a lifetime
cause if you eat 5 tacobell tacos everyday for 7 years your gonna die
GeNnOve @ Nov 20th 2006 11:05PM
wow i cant believe people are passing this offer by.
Think about the exposure you will get out of this-media will want to cover you and pay you to interview ,it will be the biggest news story of the season "Person turn in their ps3 for a lifetime of tacos, donates his beloved gaming system to help the B & G CLUB" with the xposure you will get money will flow in because you can charge for your appearance no matter how stupid the publicity is its still exposure.
with the money you get you can most likely buy not 1 but 2,3,4 ps3's and still have a lifetime of free tacos.
Shit i need to buy me ps3 and juice this oppurtunity but dammit i hate fame all i want is the ca$hing.
whos with me? we can do a buddy joint venture on this.
THNK ABOUT IT
By the way this idea is patent pending.
Craig @ Nov 20th 2006 11:23PM
i'd do it for a lifetime supply of chipotle burritos
drfish @ Nov 20th 2006 11:33PM
Don't forget to add in the approx $3000+ in taxes you would owe.
JCross22 @ Nov 20th 2006 11:43PM
Think of the army of homeless you could command with $12,000 dollars worth of tacos, they could do my laundry, my homework, wash my car and all you have to do is pay them with taco vouchers
brian @ Nov 20th 2006 11:51PM
give me the tacos!!!! extra hot
Paul @ Nov 21st 2006 12:00AM
taco bell ceo's son wants a ps3 so he gets this donation thingy going, only good for the first taker.. they just take the 2nd taker secretly, keep the ps3 for the ceo's sone while no one is the wiser!
sammy mazola jr @ Nov 21st 2006 12:16AM

Treofrog @ Nov 21st 2006 1:11AM
Cant wait until this is on Oprah i will give them three of those stupid ps3s and then i can get tacos for me and my friends,
pj @ Nov 21st 2006 1:15AM
since when is 12,500 dollars worth of 1 dollar tacos
a lifetime supply?
12,500 tacos? that would last a LOT less than a lifetime
Pal @ Nov 21st 2006 1:43AM
I think that the kids would rather enjoy the Wii, but that's just my opinion. Come on, it's Boys & Girls Club! Mine only had a Galaxian machine...

They're probably counting on either you growing sick of tacos every day, or grow sick from tacos every day :P

The only problem is that PS3s arent going for 10-20grand on ebay right now. Theyre topping out at around $1500. So actually, you stand to gain quite a bit by buying one on ebay then exchanging it for taco bell for "life*"
*your life may vary, taco bell and its subsidiaries not responsible for premature termination of life.
dave @ Nov 21st 2006 1:11PM
Start eating Taco Smell every day and I'm sure you won't live too long.
Eric @ Nov 21st 2006 8:31AM
The PS3 can be snagged on ebay now for 800 to 1500 bucks this is a steel!
csnoke @ Nov 21st 2006 9:25AM
I emailed last night about 10pm eastern when I saw it come across... still no word yet from the Tbell.

Bobby @ Nov 21st 2006 10:13AM
I could eat way more than $12K worth of tacos in my lifetime.
DON'T SELL YOURSELVES SHORT!
Mrfreezie @ Nov 21st 2006 12:06PM
I would do it in a heart beat.. I mean, it's a life time supply of food. Well, as long as taco bell doesn't go out of business. But, with that new Crunch Wrap Supreme, I doubt that would ever happen.
Mike @ Nov 21st 2006 3:54PM
i would so have waited in line to get a PS3 for this reason. Damn, 20/20 hindsight sucks.
