You know that little
New York PS3 shindig we were at yesterday? Well Sony is having another one of 'em, and they'd like you to come. Check in begins tomorrow at 4PM, and the event runs from 6 to midnight. If the free snacks aren't enough to get you there, just think of it as a time to set aside your fanboy/girl differences and really get to know the next-gen competition -- at no cost to you.
P.S. -Just in case you couldn't see that address, it's 160 Wooster St., in Manhattan.

Sony to compete with Borat? Who will win?
Krymzon40 @ Nov 2nd 2006 8:42PM
OMG i just got back from todays session!
I only got to play Resistance, Motorstorm, and Lair. Lair and Motorstorm were basically the TGS demos. They were both beautiful, Lair still needs some work though. And the physics in motorstorm was sort of a pain in the ass, its so easy to crash, i noticed people kept exploding and flipping practically as soon as the race started cause of bumping and rubbing against the other racers. I tried out the crossbar and its nice, packed with features, the webbrowser is great too.
I have pics!

It was great, for the time i played it, i had a blast, the camera movement was a bit too sensitive then, i'm sure it could be adjusted. I only came across 2 weapons, That regular gun that you seem to start out with, secondary fire is a grenade(geez cant remember the name) and the bullseye, secondary is a tag for the bullets to aim at. I really had no reason to use any of the secondary firing modes since the enemies were easily taken out. But that doesnt mean it was easy, the enemies like to surround you and sneak up and fire from behind, i had one bar of health most of the time and stayed alive when i took cover into consideration. I also rode a tank and blasted some chimera, some barriers and turrets, nothing too exciting there. I just hope the whole game can keep me interested

With all that red the blu-ray logo sure looks out of place.

Thanks for the invite but I don't live in New York.
Krymzon40 @ Nov 2nd 2006 9:50PM
I didnt get to play Untold Legends, just Resistance, Motorstorm and Lair.
Untold Legends graphics were better than i expected, sharp, crisp, detailed. Nice animations also
Andir3.0 @ Nov 2nd 2006 10:08PM
Damn, thanks for the response. I guess I'll have to wait until I can
get my hands on a PS3 to see how it is.

Serious question regarding the PS3:
How would you be able to play Guitar Hero/DDR/other specialized controller games? I don't see any older controller ports, and I haven't heard of a USB adapter for the PS3 (naturally, there's adapters made for computers, but does the PS3 support those?).
Pete D @ Nov 2nd 2006 11:45PM
Jeez... Now if I was only able to get the girlfriend to go rather than play with her relatively new boobies (yes, I said play with her NEW boobies), I might be able to make it. It is just about 4 blocks from my house. Oh well, next time. Boobies take priority over PS3.... Although Blu-Ray porn on my 40" Samsung 1080P LCD w/ the PS3 sounds like a good idea.
Quiwi @ Nov 3rd 2006 1:16AM
Hmm, I was going to bus to ny from boston saturday ($15), maybe I'll go a day early... too bad I missed registration though, oh well

The launch party was pretty good. As listed earlier, they had about a dozen games playable. Overall impression, not all that impressed. It's definitely going to be hard to get use to not feeling the dual shock... what a shame that it had to be released without any dual shock. i tried out the tilt feature on Tony Hawk Project 8... clumsy IMO. Resistance was probably the best showing along with Call for Duty graphic-wise. But I guess this launch party can hype up ppl who has been waiting it out to purchase a next gen console. as a 360 owner though, what i saw last night is probably the same I'm expecting for the 360. And do go there for the free junk food! I would say it was heaven for us gamers to have free junk food, games, and 3 hot chix walking around with blank clipboards... =)
