Wii unboxing photos hit the internets

While we're still counting the days until the Wii's launch throughout the Americas (November 19), our amigos south of the border managed to get ahold of one just a little sooner; apparently Mexican gamer mag Atomix got their hands all over a unit that was sent to its offices for testing purposes. PS# and XBOX are and will be better? WRONG! almost all systems are different...nintendo is almost always based on multiplayer and innovativer ideas...PS3 is garbage...just better graphics..nothing new about it...WOW its HD woot...yeah no...and the XBOX 360? well we all know how much of a flop that is already...only blind sighted die hard microsoft fans really like it...cause all the games there you can get for your computer and just play there...no need for another $600 machine..wii is only $250, innovative and extremely advanced...plus nintendo is catering to the majority, not the rich. less than 20% of people in the USA own HDTV's...why would you market the 20% instead of the 80% GG for ignorance...


also...to myscrnnm...internal power source indicates better technology? wrong again...they move it to be external...probably for heat purposes to keep the system cool...look at the PS3...its the size of a small desktop tower...and all those ventalation spots are needed to keep the system cool..i can predict over heating PS3s on a regualr basis with more than 3 hours of game play..

I'm a hardcore gamer and I'm gonna get one of these baby for my whole family (yeah they like it too!). In addition I have a lot of friends who would buy this too over the 360 and PS3.

It's very innovative and we're after the interactive gameplay.

The PC is still the best if I'm after graphics and power - beats the 360 and PS3 down! And definitely a lot of better games!

First of all, size is not the only factor in determining the reasonable size for an AC adapter. The Wii is also the weakest of all the seventh-generation video game consoles. This means that it should also have the smallest AC adapter. And despite this, the PlayStation 3 still manages to keep its AC adapter internal, the only one of the three major seventh-generation consoles to do so. This kind of tells you something about which video game console implements the best technology.

How would that say anything about the console, Nintendo just want the Wii to be more compact, personally I would rather have some bulky box behind my tv stand where I don't have to see it all the time then to have the console be bigger and heavier.

Actually, since the Wii is using far less power than the other 2 consoles (yes, I understand WHY it uses less power)it needs a bigger AC adapter to convert all that 120V to a much smaller voltage. This way the Wii won't blow out, or burn up your living room like the PS3 will. Well that is if Sony hasn't figured out that problem by now.

The PS3 is the size of my freakin doG! The fact that Sony was able to implement an internal PS into something that size really doesn't impress me, nor does the fact that it requires 380 watts to power. Now on the other hand, the fact that Nintendo has brought a next-gen console to market roughly the size of 3 stacked CD cases, that is completely innovative, revolutionary, gorgeous and fun does show me who implements the best technology. I hope you realize technology has little to do with graphics and everything to do with innovation.

That wasn't what he was pointing out; he was saying the Wii is small, making the adapter look bigger. The length of the brick it self looks to be a bit less then the length of the box, and the guys hand looks to be around that length too.

the best hardware piece in that second pic is the Xbox 360 controller in the top right controller, at least the guy has a sense of a good system (i.e. Sony or Microsoft)... Mario's dying guys, let em go, unless you dig those kids games Nintendo is always pumping out their butt... also Nintendo doesn't want hardcore gamers anymore, they proved this through their target audience, which is a average joe... Nintendo doesn't care anymore about what you want in a game, they are bringing you a system they hope to replace board games with at parties, what about 50% of you gamers who don't have many friends, not much fun, at least I didn't find Mario Party much fun single player. The Wii will die, and for many reasons, first the market of older people/casual people, your average joe, will see this and think, oh another video game council, not much use for me, doesn't even have dvd support as a small Trojan horse to get in peoples homes.It will die, you will all hate me for what I just wrote, but mark my words, it will die, will likely do worse then game cube.

Gamers who have friends go out from time to time. They spend money on meals at restaurants, various trips, on new clothes, on soap and shampoo... They'll pick the less expensive console.

The loners probably don't have other things to spend money on, so sure, they'll buy the PS3.

Fact is, DVD is good enough. We've got years before it dies out completely, if only because we'll get a load of dual-format discs before the HD-DVD vs. BluRay war ends. With that in mind, does the average Joe need more than a $250 console and a $30 DVD player from Wal-Mart, which is probably already in their home?

Not everyone out there is like you. The Wii will fail in the slim market of People Like You. It will be a smashing success in the market of People Like Me. The question is, are there more of You, or more of Me? I personally wouldn't take bets in either direction, and to be frank, given Nintendo's generally conservative-yet-successful strategies, they're not really taking that much of a bet. They'll get the average Joes, the diehard Nintendo fans, and the constantly growing children's market. Even if the PS3 is a remarkable success, Nintendo's prepared to take second place in market share, and still end up as the most profitable console in this generation.

Slower? Sure. Filled with kid-friendly games? Of course. I just don't think it's going to matter to the vast majority of future Wii owners.

They don't know just how nice that is when installing a console in your vehicle.
12V straight in is great and then the brick is gone.

Gonna love to see how the PS3 performs long term with an internal power supply and a system that pulls 380 watts.

For one like someone said about the last two systems but really Nintendo has never built the power adapter into the player all the way back to the original Nintendo. Not that it really matters to me if it is in or out, but you do gain the advantage of moving a lot of heat away from the unit, making it easier and safer for the device to be placed in my entertainment center. For example, I wouldn't want my power adapter for my laptop built in, the laptop gets hot enough itself, and I have picked up the adapter before and almost dropped it, it gets so hot. Anything to keep electronics cooler will help them last longer. I'd think you playstation boys would want that since you are waisting a ton of money on the system that they can't seem to build correctly(the reason there are so few on release day).

Nintendo is gonna make alot of money off of this. It is the lowest priced system and thats gonna say alot when christmas comes and kids are asking for 500-600 dollar system. What happens when you dont have a HD-TV
No point in having it. Hardcore gamers are gonna want the PS3 and Xbox but those of us who don't waste money on something thats gonna cost so much and then have to buy all the extra's its kind of ridiculous. When the Wii comes out people are gonna see how different and not the average nerd's gaming system. Instead of boosting up the chips, they are boosting the audience.

I have had lots of Sony and Nintendo game machines. I had mean times on PS1 and 2. BUt i sold my PS2 long long ago.

I sold it because it got boring. Same games over and over.

PS3, whats it got? Um ok lets have a look:
Ridge racer 7, 7 wtf 7!!!!
Tekken 6
Gran Turismo 5
Tony Hawk 8

This is the reason PSP sux, and it is the reason the Wii will do well.

PS3 will do well because there are so many people wanting to play *insert PS1 title* number 7.

Each person to their opions. Some may like the fact of games in a series [madden, tekken, turismo] but others may like somthing a bit diffrent.

Then theres those who are all "I'm so 1337" and just bash Nintendo for being a kiddie tender and not making things for the hardcore. So? Maybe if you stop smoking 13yearoldboywholikesgoreandbulliesotherkidswhowillownmyassbecausetheywillbemillionairs
then you will see for a short while that the Ds is doing "slightly" better then the PSP.
