Hasn't Sony been touting the PS3 being THE High Def Gaming console?

I'm curious - How can you sell THE High Def Gaming console without a cable that will do High Def?

I think that's a component HD cable there.

because if you are buying a 600 dollar unit you would have enough money to buy the component cable at 15 dollars or hdmi cable at 30 dollars separate
