Engadget Podcast 085 - 08.22.2006
What's with all the negativity, man? It's summer time and we'd think everybody'd be at the beach or drinking a beer, and yet it seems like we can't get through a week without this company or that going at another's throats -- or just laying down dead. EchoStar and TiVo have been really heating up this past week, but we really, um, exploded with the news that they are launching what amounts to be the largest consumer product recall in recent memory -- possibly in the history of consumer electronics. 4.1 million Dell batteries will make their way back to Dell at the same time Boeing kills off their in-flight internet access division, Connexion, but it's not all doom and gloom. SanDisk's latest 8GB Sansa is out, and you know we're excited about that. Plenty more on today's podcast!Get the podcast

Hehe, we're doing our best! You'd be surprised how much time a gadget blog takes!
Best, Ryan

Can you please not add another RSS feed to sit alongside http://podcasts.engadget.com/rss.xml and give a feed of the enhanced/AAC podcasts? Thanks.

Ryan, I'm afraid to say it, but I think you're going to lose your $1 come X'mas eve.
I highly appreciate the good work you guys do on a day-to-day basis. And the podcast always makes the Wednesday morning commute to work alot more enjoyable.
Ryan Block @ Aug 23rd 2006 1:35PM
Alan, I know we've been saying it for, like, forever, but we're really actually working on it! I just had a meeting last weekend where we were discussing the tech required to get that wedged into our platform. Thanks for your patience!
Best, Ryan

I wish I had as much free time as you guys do. There's no way I would give up my iTunes-iPod combination for a system where I manually dragged and dropped my songs and podcasts. Right before my run, I sync my iPod and automagically get all my latest podcasts (Engadget included). There is no opening of folders and trying to figure out which was I've heard and which ones are new. Smart playlists! Oh yeah, my iPod talks to my sneakers these days and has motivated me to run twice as often as I ever did before. I guess I'm a sheep, but I'll be a fit one.

About the audio quality, well...it might be just me but I've thought that the past few weeks have been just fantastic. Even earlier it was great save for some background noise from it being New York and all. So, great work Trent/Randall/ect.
Ryan, c'mon: everything is sold out on Christmas at a Best Buy or Circuit City type store. Last year, I had to pick up a few last minute things for unexpected family and PS2s, iPods and even the crummy brands too. So, uh, well, if I am able to pick up a PS3 from a store within a fifty mile radius of me, I'll donate the price of a PS3 to a charity in the name of Engadget...

hahah.. first podcast i listen to on my new Sony E00 usb-key player - and you guys say "no one should be using software to transfer songs onto their player". do'h! really wanted the Samsung YP-U2 - but had a gift voucher for a place that only had the Sony.
the software hasn't been TOOO painful - would be nice if podcasts were built in...

In this podcast, Peter Rojas states "it's too easy to get a patent". Could you post the number of the last patent Mr. Rojas received? Surely he must have several.
